Simple System Natural Grazing Mix. Ryegrass free blend of many high fibre grass species. A balance of hardy, creeping & drought resistant grasses, utilising traditional species, which are safer for equines.
This grass mix includes a combination of hardy and creeping and drought resistant species best suited to keeping your sward intact and repairing the sward after heavy use. This is a mix also suitable for hay cropping. The more traditional species are a little more expensive but are more suitable for equines than the more highly “improved” species and varieties used in modern agriculture. In addition we have added legumes for their mineral rich content and soil improvement characteristics.
Establishment and Management
Regarding establishment there are two timing options for sowing. The spring and autumn. Some growers, especially those on moisture retentive soils prefer to sow non ryegrass mixtures in the spring. This has the advantage of providing a long growing season after sowing to allow the slower growing species such as bentgrass to establish but has the disadvantage of increasing the risk of failure due to drought. In practice most spring sowinsg are usually successful even on dry soils. When sowing in the autumn it is essential to sow reasonably early and by early September at the latest. This suits leys following most arable crops but in wet years if combining is delayed or in very dry summers where it is not always possible to get a seedbed then it may be best to postpone the sowing till the spring.
Whenever a non ryegrass mix is sown the seed should be kept shallow, ideally sown no more than a few mm. A fine seedbed is required and this is best achieved by ploughing and further cultivation. Before sowing we would recommend rolling. The seed can then be broadcast or shallow drilled followed by further rolling. Both techniques work but the use of heavy, wide spaced drills are not suitable as the gaps between the rows, especially on light soil, can take too long to cover in. Regarding soil fertility it is important to check that the soil pH is above 6 and that P & K levels are corrected to ADAS index 2. Not everyone adheres to this but it is good practice.
If seeding into an existing sward to modify the sward or thicken worn patches the timing is less critical as the seed will be partially protected by the micro-climate at the base of the sward. It may be beneficial to harrow with a spring tine harrow before seeding and then rolling afterwards.

Delivery Details
- Dispatch Times
- We dispatch orders mid-day (12pm) Monday to Friday. Orders placed before 12pm will be processed the same day. Orders placed after 12pm will be processed the next business day.
- Dispatch days exclude weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Delivery Service
- All orders are shipped with DPD's express 1-2 day delivery service.
- Orders placed before 12pm on a Friday will be delivered over the weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
- Extended Lead Times
- Due to the nature of our business, there may be extended lead times for certain items. Every effort will be made to deliver all products by the agreed date.
- If no tracking details are received within 48 hours, please contact us.
- Order Issues
- If there is anything wrong with the items once they have been received, please contact us within 24 hours of the consignment being signed for so that we can rectify the problem.
- Holiday Delays
- Due to the volume of orders during Christmas, Easter, and Bank Holidays, please be aware that there may be delays in processing orders over these periods.

How do I return an item?
In accordance with The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you are entitled to cancel an order and receive a full refund up to 14 calendar days after you receive the item from us. This applies even if you change your mind and no longer want an item. The refund will include the minimum postage costs you could have chosen when placing your order. You are responsible for the cost of returning the item to us. You must notify us of your intention to cancel the order and you must return the item to us by recorded delivery within 14 days of notifying us. We will then refund your money within 14 days of receipt of a returned item. It is your duty to take all reasonable care of any items to be returned, including their packaging, up until the time we receive them back from you. Any damage will result in us being unable to refund part or all of the money you have paid.
Items that cannot be returned
Perishable items i.e. temperature controlled food/medication
Medication – due to regulatory law, we cannot accept the return of any medication, including licensed and prescription items
Items that have been opened/used (unless found to be faulty.)
The 14 day limit to request a refund does not apply to any item which is faulty, unfit for purpose, or not as described at the time you placed the order. For damaged and faulty items, you have 30 days to arrange a return/refund.
For all items returned after the 14-day period, you are asked to provide a written explanation of the reason for the return. Returned items in this circumstance may or may not be due a full refund, depending on the circumstances. (For example if you used an item for a while before it broke, you may have to bear some of the cost for the period of time you were able to use it.) In normal circumstances, the limit of our liability for compensation for orders which are delayed or do not arrive at all, will be the value of the order placed. You will not be due for any additional compensation (for instance if you decided to take time off work to receive the order).
